A-Z Collection
The A-Z Collection was established 2006 in New York City and was shortly afterwards awarded with a menswear Gen Art Fresh Faces title, debuting in New YorkFashion Week during 2007.
Playing off common everyday familiarities, the A-Z Collection is an emerging men’s line becoming known for manifesting a distinct style by confronting the plainest elements: geometric shapes, elementary color blocking, and everyday ubiquities such as dollar-storerain ponchos.
Less interested in human icons or time periods, inspirations for A-Z Collection have included such things as Parker-Jotter Pens, Holga Cameras, an old ski boot, a blue nylon pencil case, cardboard puzzle pieces, Braun portable radios, and Saul Baas corporate logos (such as the United Airlines icon).
The initial fashion direction was first sparked by a giant collage of random objects meticulously arranged by the designer on the studiofloor one rainy day, which then become a customary approach to developing each new collection, to date. Combined with a giant parallelogram and clunky cardboard tag, the A to Z look was established.
